The Chinese Government Scholarships program at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics is looking for high-achieving students. For the school year 2022-2023, the university is accepting applications.

The program is only open to overseas/international students who wish to pursue a master’s or doctoral degree in China. At the university, the scholarship winners will get tuition, housing, a living allowance, and full medical insurance.

The Chinese government has established a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers, and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities in order to promote mutual understanding, cooperation, and exchanges in politics, economy, culture, education, and trade between China and other countries. International students, instructors, and scholars can apply for Chinese Government Scholarships to pursue degrees at all levels (bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD), as well as non-degree study and research in China.

Why should you study finance and economics at Southwestern University? In 27 departments and schools, it provides 57 doctorates, 108 master’s, and 33 bachelors’ degree programs. The Chinese Finance Research Institute and the Research Institute of Economics and Management are two of its seven nationally famous research centers and institutes.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligible Countries: All nationalities.

Eligible Course or Subjects: Students apply for the Master or PhD coursework in any subject area.

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for Chinese Government Scholarships, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:

By the Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China, applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, meet the conditions set forth in Document No. 12 (2020) of the Ministry of Education of the PRC and other related regulations, be in good health, and get good grades.

Applicants applying for Chinese Government Scholarships must follow the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and local governments, as well as the SWUFE rules and regulations.

Undergraduates (applying for master’s degree programs) and postgraduates (applying for doctoral degree programs) who will graduate this year must first receive a nationally recognized relevant certificate before enrolling in the year of admission.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

How to Apply: To be eligible, aspirants must have to enroll in the degree program. After taking admission, submit an online application at the Chinese Government Scholarship System (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register

Supporting Documents: Students must submit the following:

  • Students must have a Passport photo was taken within six months.
  • Notarized highest educational degree or diploma certificate
  • Complete highest educational transcript
  • Recommendation letters- Applicants for master’s and doctoral programs shall submit two recommendation letters signed by professors, associate professors, or people with relevant academic titles in related academic fields.
  • Study Plan or Research Proposal; It should be a minimum of 800 words for masters and doctoral program applicants.
  • Valid language certificate
  • The first page of the applicant’s passport
  • Physical Examination Record for Foreigner
  • Non-Criminal Record

Admission Requirements: Applicants applying for Chinese Government Scholarships must hold a nationally recognized bachelor’s degree (if applying for a master’s degree program) or master’s degree (if enrolling for a doctorate program) (applying for a doctoral degree program).

Language Requirement: Language certificates are not required for applicants whose native language is English or who can demonstrate that they are enrolled in a 2-year or higher degree program where the teaching language is English.

Applicants whose first language is not English must provide a score report from an English language test (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 95 or higher) or pass the College of International Education, SWUFE’s test.
