UK Government Chevening International Scholarships, 2022-2023


For master’s degree programs in the UK, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and affiliated organizations provide Chevening international Scholarships. Applicants from abroad are welcome to apply.

Since 1983, the UK government has sponsored the Chevening international honors program to foster the development of world leaders. Funded by partner organizations and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Provides two awards: Chevening Fellowships and Scholarships. The beneficiaries of these awards are chosen by British Embassies and High Commissions around the world.

A bachelor’s degree is required for applicants in order to be admitted to a postgraduate program at a UK university. In the UK, this is often equivalent to a 2:1 honors upper second-class degree.

Chevening International Scholarships


  • For you to be qualified for a Chevening International Scholarships, you must:
    Be a citizen of a nation or territory that is eligible for Chevening.
  • For a least of two years after your award has finished, go back to your home country.
  • By the time you submit your application, you must have finished all requirements for an undergraduate degree that will allow you to enroll in a postgraduate program at a UK university. This is normally similar to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK, though your program of study and university of choice may determine a different outcome.
  • Possess a minimum of two years’ worth (2,800 hours) of work experience.
  • Applying to three distinct qualified university programs in the UK and receiving

How to Apply:  The mode of applying is online. Shortlisted candidates will be requested to submit two references and their education documents prior to their interview date. Candidates from all over the world are interviewed by panels at British embassies and high commissions.

Language Requirements: Applicants are free to take tests more than once in order to meet the Chevening English language requirement. Please note that Chevening does not pay for costs associated with English language testing. You are responsible for booking and paying for costs associated with these tests.
